Police Remind Residents to Be Alert After Robberies in La Grange

Police remind residents to be aware of surroundings when walking along at night after two reports of robberies in La Grange Friday night.

After two separate reports of men robbing teenage boys in La Grange Friday night, police cautioning and reminding residents to be aware of their surroundings. 

A message on the village website reads: "The La Grange Police Department encourages residents to be aware of their surroundings when walking alone at night. Be aware of strangers approaching you. Change your direction of travel or attempt to remove yourself from a situation which may feel threatening. Parents are encouraged to discuss situational awareness with their children."

Between 8:30 and 9:30 p.m. Friday, two men demanded money from the boys, police said. In one incident, one of the victims complied while the other refused, causing a struggle with the offender.

No one was injured, and the offenders did not imply they had any weapons, police said. 

Both cases are still under investigation.

Residents are encouraged to call 9-1-1 immediately if they or their children encounter any suspicious persons or observe any suspicious activity, day or night.
