Q BBQ, Kama Bistro Among Michelin's 2014 Bib Gourmands

La Grange restaurants named in Michelin's list of Chicago's Bib Gourmand restaurants for their quality food and reasonable prices.

La Grange restaurants Q BBQ and Kama Indian Bistro have received Michelin recognition for their quality and reasonably-priced fare in the annual list of Chicago's Bib Gourmand restaurants, Michelin announced Thursday.

Michelin's Bib Gourmands are selected by the company's esteemed and anonymous food inspectors and represent restaurants that serve two courses and a glass of wine or dessert for $40 or less (tax and gratuity not included), according to a news release from Michelin.

Sixty-nine Chicago-area restaurants made the list, including 21 newcomers. This is the second year Q BBQ has made the list.

"While the famous Michelin stars remain the most celebrated international distinction in the MICHELIN Guide, the Bib Gourmand is a highly desired honor among restaurateurs and one that is recognized by the many people who covet quality food at a reasonable price," the release reads.

Michelin's anonymous inspectors regularly dine in Chicago and the surrounding suburbs to make their choices for the Bib Gourmands and the other restaurant selections in the MICHELIN Guide Chicago, according to the release. The local inspectors are trained to "scrupulously" apply the same time-tested methods used by Michelin inspectors for many decades throughout the world to ensure a "uniform, international standard of excellence."
