La Grange Home Sales, Prices up in April '13
Twenty-five homes sold in La Grange during April 2013, and sales in La Grange Park were also up slightly compared to April 2012.
The 25 detached, single-family homes sold in La Grange during April represented a 56.3 percent increase from April 2012, when 16 homes were sold, according to the Mainstreet Organization of Realtors (MORe).
In La Grange Park, 16 homes sold during April, up from 14 during that month in 2012.
In both towns, the median price of homes sold in April also increased compared to last year. The median price rose 11.4 percent to $340,456 from $305,756 in La Grange Park during April 2012, and rose 19.2 percent to $459,000 from $385,000 in La Grange.

The number of homes sold in each town was also up from .
The market for detached, single-family homes in suburbs throughout west Cook County saw growth in March, MORe reported. MORe gets its statistics from Midwest Real Estate Data.

In the near west suburbs, Oak Park saw the largest percent increase in sales, with 86.7 percent more homes sold year over year in April. Forest Park had the highest percentage increase in median price.
The momentum is expected to continue as the number of detached homes under contract in April grew by 45 percent in those same communities. The median sale price for detached homes also increased 5.5 percent from the previous April.
“Word about the activity in the market is getting around,” said Tonya Corder, president of MORe and managing broker of Keller Williams Preferred Realty in Orland Park. “I think people who had been sitting on the sidelines are starting to realize that the market is accelerating. With today’s low interest rates and affordable home prices, if you are a buyer, your opportunity is now.”
