Friday, October 11

Hacker Asks for $20K From Bank 

A woman in the 300 block of Burlington Avenue reported she believes her email account was hacked. Police said the email address was hacked by someone in Ghana and sent an email to her bank requesting a wire transfer of $20,000. MB Financial refused and notified the woman. No loss reported.

Driving Without a License 

Police charged Elder Roman-Alvarez, 40, of Cicero, with driving without a license during a traffic stop near the intersection of 7th and Burlington avenues about noon. He was given a Nov. 20 court date and released.

Unknown Couple Asking for Water

A woman in the 500 block of South Park Road in La Grange reported a man and woman who went to her home and asked for water about 8 a.m. They told the resident the woman, about 40 to 50, had just gotten out of the hospital and needed water and said they were on their way home to Brookfield, police said. The resident reported the incident after she noticed the pair was going door to door.

Tuesday, October 8

Bike Stolen 

A woman reported her son’s bike was stolen in the 500 block of Ogden Avenue about 9:50 p.m.

Vandalism 

Red paint was found on a street sign warning of a sharp turn in the 1000 block of South Edgewood about 1 a.m.
