Social Skills Challenges and Children:Unraveling the Layers of Social Communication

The Resource Association in
Special Education (RAiSE) will host Julie

Prato, M.A., CCC-SLP
, for a presentation about social skills.

Many children, regardless of a label, experience a
spectrum of challenges with social skills.  How children think about people affects how
they behave, and how others respond to them, which in turn affects their own
emotions.   Social thinking abilities
impact children throughout the day, every day.  This presentation will address the various
characteristics of social thinking, its impact on
academics, and recent methodologies for improving social communication.  The Social Thinking programs, developed by
Michelle Garcia Winner, will be presented and discussed.

Audience members are
encouraged to bring their personal stories as we begin to unravel the
challenges and set children forth on a path of social success.

All parents, teachers, and
community members are invited to attend.
