Caring Transition Offers Relocation Planning for Seniors in La Grange, Oak Park Areas

Meredith Morris has always had a passion for people’s stories. 

An experienced journalist and PR professional, the Oak Parker has put her curiosity and interest in people to use in opening her own small business, Caring Transitions in the Oak Park and La Grange areas.

Caring Transitions specializes in customized transition and relocation planning for seniors. Services include full or partial liquidations, house cleanout and de-cluttering, preparing a house to be sold, working with real estate professionals, relocation planning and more, according to a news release from Caring Transitions.

“I genuinely care about people’s stories and their lives," Morris said in a statement. "When someone has to relocate, especially a senior, it’s often a very difficult and emotional move. Caring Transitions can alleviate the stress that goes along with those life transitions and make those moves much easier while preserving a person’s life stories,” Morris said in a statement. “It matters to me that people are happy and comfortable with the end result.”

Before opening Caring Transitions of La Grange and Oak Park, Morris worked in public relations for nearly 20 years with organizations including The Morton Arboretum, Northwestern Memorial Hospital, the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago and the Chicago Association of Realtors. Morris also maintains her roots as a journalist as a freelance business and arts news reporter with the Oak Leaves/Pioneer Press newspaper group.

“I discovered Caring Transitions while exploring ways to open a business and take as much control of my future as possible in an uncertain economy, as well as to contribute more tangible, immediate good. When looking at franchises, Caring Transitions jumped out and stood out above the rest because of its focus on working to help the senior population. It was love at first sight,” she said.

In addition to her work, Morris also is a member of the Village of Oak Park Housing Programs Advisory Commission and has a long history of grassroots volunteer work, including years with a seniors’  organization.
