Hundreds Still Without Power in La Grange and Western Springs

The La Grange Public Library and Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital are open as cooling centers today for people who are without power, the village said. If you go to the hospital to cool off, enter through the emergency room.

ComEd representatives are in the area assessing the damage, the village said, and will soon provide a more accurate estimate of when power will be restored.

You can get updates on when power will be restored to your residence by signing up for ComEd's text Outage Alerts Program. Once you've signed up, text the word "OUT" to 26633 (COMED). ComEd will text you as they have more information.

Hundreds of homes in La Grange and Western Springs remain without power Tuesday morning after a fast-moving storm swept through the area Monday afternoon.

About 735 customers are without power in La Grange, while 280 homes are in the dark in Western Springs, according to ComEd. Fewer than five are out in La Grange Park. 

Approximately 1,400 customers were without power in La Grange at the peak of the storm, including one block downtown, the village said Tuesday morning. Call the Village Manager's Office at 708-579-2313 to report an outage. They will help you coordinate with ComEd.

The Public Works Department is working to clear downed trees throughout La Grange. Call 708-579-2328 to report debris from trees. 

It could take until Thursday for power to be restored to some parts of the villages, ComEd said. Roughly 70,000 customers were still without power as of 8 a.m. in the whole Chicago area.
