Stop smoking with help from Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital

La Grange – Starting Jan. 14, Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital will begin a new round of smoking cessation classes, designed to help anyone trying to kick the habit.

The classes, which cost $99, were developed by the American Lung Association. Each session is run as a group meeting, with participants talking about why they wish to quit. Nicotine withdrawal, available medications, stress relief and diet are also addressed through the program.

The first seven-week series of eight classes begins at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 14 at Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital, 5101 S. Willow Springs Road in La Grange.

The second session of classes starts April 8, the third session starts Sept. 9. To enroll, call the Health Information Line at (630) 856-7525, or Adventist La Grange Cardiac Rehab at (708) 245-3636.

During each round of classes, eight meetings are held over seven weeks. Enrollment is limited to 10 people per session. If there’s available space, people can sign up all the way up to the start of the first class.

After that, those interested must wait until the next series of sessions begins.
