ReplyThanks again John for another great article. You're the only thing left here worth reading.

ReplyThis might be interesting if you had included maps and a little analysis instead of just spouting figures you found online. How about neighborhood names? Maybe a little more detail about housing stock and history?
Looks like I am right. The New and Improved Western Springs Patch is going to be nothing but badly written fluff.

Lauren, I'm sorry to see that you are as unprofessional as the rest of the Patch staff. How about instead of a juvenile, snarky snipe, try asking what I am talking about and maybe, just maybe, get a story idea or three.
I was replying to the descriptions of what you two intend to concentrate on. Maybe you should take a couple of journalism and marketing classes too.
And Craig, I can't afford to work for the pittance AOL pays, and I don't intend to do your job for you. Sorry. There is enough nonsense going on in full view to keep you two busy for months if you'll just open your eyes. And do it as a lead story, not a blog post nobody reads or even knows exists.

ReplySo, still no actual journalism, like digging into the Western Springs water plant fiasco or how La Grange operates like the personal fiefdom of a few connected trustees? Has AOL decided to turn this into just a bunch of business fluff pieces? Not that there was anything here that could pass for investigative journalism before but now it sounds like you'll just be kissing the usual arses and calling it a day.

Paulette, in a word: Incompetence. And Jacob, I have it on good authority that they had the alarms disconnected so there was no monitoring at all. That's why they are so paranoid about running the RO plant with nobody there...they can't monitor it remotely. It's a six million dollar joke on all of us.

Stephanie, what possible good does attending these meetings or reading the website do? They don't listen to anyone besides themselves and the hacks they hire as "consultants" and the website is so thoroughly scrubbed of any potentially embarrassing information that it is worthless.

ReplyFellow Western Springers, this is what you have to look forward to. Multiple system failures, haphazard patchwork repairs and potentially hazardous water. And it only cost us $6 million!
These people have no idea what they are doing.

ReplyIsn't it too bad that "Billy" and "Darnell" can't keep their idiotic political sniping out of the commentary for a historical piece. Surely they could find some more appropriate venue. Patch desperately needs an "ignore" or "block" feature.
I never used the toboggan slides but know a lot of people who did. Thanks for the great story John.

Except, as noted above, there are no gates to crash through once you are on the tracks. This is not a four quadrant gate crossing.
This sounds entirely like a contingent fee personal injury lawyer fishing for an unwarranted settlement, part and parcel evidence of the need for tort reform.

Hey, what a great idea! They'd have to build it on stilts to accommodate the Village's tendency to turn the park into a pond though. But then we could have canoe races, too!
