My name is Miles Maftean and I'm currently a freelance journalist covering the Western suburbs of Chicago. I graduated with a journalism degree from Columbia College in May 2010. Over the span of my three years at Columbia, I worked at several news outlets in and around the Chicago land area. As an Editorial Assistant at Consumers Digest, I wrote multiple consumer-investigative pieces used in their bimonthly magazine. For my college newspaper, the Columbia Chronicle, I was the Assistant Campus News Editor. While working at the Chicago Tribune, I interned in the Travel Department and wrote freelance for the Metro section.
During an academic program in Washington, D.C., I studied Economics, Public Policy and Covering Washington at Georgetown University. While living in D.C., I interned at Kentucky Senator Jim Bunning's office in his Communications Department.
In late August I will be attending Central European University in Budapest, Hungary, to receive my Master's Degree in International Political Economy.
