A View of the Pet Parade with an Older Set of Eyes

Participating in the Pet Parade for the first time in twenty-nine years proved to me it’s still fun for the young and the old.

The Pet Parade has always been a source of fond memories for me as a child growing up in La Grange.  This past weekend provided new memories for me as an adult living in La Grange. Last week I was talking about the Pet Parade with my mom and she told me of my first experience at the parade. I was two, and apparently my mom had gotten us up early to get to La Grange Road for a terrific viewing spot. I was having a great time until a clown threw confetti on me and I became hysterical thinking it was water. That was pretty much the end of the parade for me. Hey, I was two! I have participated in the parade many times through the years, with the last in 1982 with WLTL; Lyons Township High School's student radio station. It was a beautiful day …
