Photo Gallery: La Grange Hometown Holiday 2012

Check out some photos from the Holiday Walk in the La Grange downtown, and please feel free to add some of your own!

The La Grange Hometown Holiday ("Holiday Walk"/"Christmas Walk") event took over downtown La Grange on Saturday afternoon and evening with a wealth of Christmas and holiday fun for residents of all ages. The La Grange Business Association, who sponsored the event, provided us with some terrific photos from the event, from marshmellow-roasting to Santa; check them out above! And we're certain that there were plenty of other shutterbugs there; how about sharing some of your own snapshots as well? How did you like the Hometown Holiday? Let us know in the comments!

Photos: La Grange Park Tree Lighting and Holiday Walk

A chilly night, but good attendance at La Grange Park's annual Holiday Walk and Tree Lighting Ceremony.

Another successful La Grange Park Holiday Walk is in the bag. Residents explored local businesses in the Village Market, counted down a Village tree lighting ceremony and sampled some of the best chili in the western suburbs on a cold Friday night. I caught up with Village Manager Julia Cedillo at Phillips Flowers & Gifts after the tree lighting too, and she wholeheartedly agreed that the event was great for village businesses and residents alike. "It's why we do this," Cedillo said. "We want to show off all the local businesses here and get people to come out." Village Market businesses …

This is my first Holiday Walk in La Grange Park. What are they normally like? I'd agree that the decorations were sparse, but everyone seemed to be in high spirits—especially at the Chili Cook-Off.   more ›

Holiday Weekend Weather: Flurries or Showers...Maybe Both?

Your guide to weather this weekend.

With La Grange Park's Holiday Walk and tree lighting ceremony tonight and La Grange's Hometown Holiday on Saturday, lots of people are wondering how the weather will cooperate. Sure, it wouldn't quite be the holiday season without old Jack Frost nipping at your nose, but come on, who here wouldn't be pretty happy with a nice 60 degree fall night instead of winter madness. Nobody seems quite sure what the weather will do this weekend. Early forecasts were calling for some light snow flurries. There would be no accumulation, but some snowflakes dancing in the air would make either village's holiday fest a little more seasonal. Now, weather reports are calling for light showers, so it's anybody's guess (which I'm pretty sure is what most …

Everything You Need to Know About La Grange's Holiday Walk

Just about everything you need to know about the annual Holiday Walk in La Grange.

Yes, it's that time of year again. If all the holiday music playing on the radio and in local businesses hasn't tipped you off, then the announcement of the annual La Grange Holiday Walk sure will! La Grange's 20th Annual Holiday Walk kicks off in downtown La Grange on Saturday, Dec. 3 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. in downtown La Grange. If you're a new resident to the village this year, this is one event you can't miss! Activities will begin with the traditional All-Village Sing, which will be followed by Santa Claus' arrival via one of La Grange's own fire trucks. Hey, it's not a sleigh, but it's red enough! Santa will be on hand for the lighting of the La Grange Christmas tree and will take up his place in Village Hall to hear what all the good…

La Grange does have that small town charm because the businesses give back to the community, and the residents give back to the businesses. Please support La Grange's economy this holiday season and keep your shopping local.   more ›
