UPDATED, THURSDAY, 10:10 P.M.: According to a La Grange Police Department crash report, the driver of the van that narrowly missed hitting La Grange Village Hall was a 77-year-old La Grange man. The resident was driving south on La Grange Road when he suddenly veered into northbound traffic (he claimed that a parked car suddenly pulled out in front of him.) He sideswiped two northbound cars and two parked cars on the east side of La Grange before careening across Harris Avenue and onto the Village Hall lawn and coming to rest in the bushes in front of the Hall. The man told police that he had attempted to stop the car in vain. Police tested his brakes and said they appeared to be working properly. The man was cited for improper lane usage…

The Village of La Grange Park will host an open house at Village Hall on Monday, Jan. 30 to discuss the possible closing of it's local post office branch.
La Grange Park residents will get another chance to voice their opinion about the possible closure of their local post office branch at a Village-sponsored public meeting on Monday, Jan. 30 from 5-7 p.m. At a Village Board meeting on Jan. 24, Village President Jim Discipio encouraged residents to come to the meeting and voice their concerns. Discipio added that with the help of resident Tom Serafin, the meeting would be videotaped and sent to the post master general in Washington D.C. Additionally, residents can get a chance to talk with Congressman Dan Lipinski at the meeting, who is planning to be present. Residents can show up any time between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to share their thoughts with the congressman and village.

The Citizens Council of La Grange will be hosting a meeting on public safety Wednesday night. Police Chief Michael Holub and Trustee Bill Holder will be at the meeting to answer questions and talk about village plans.
The Citizens Council of La Grange will host a meeting on public safety Wednesday, Oct. 12 in the Village Hall Auditorium. The council will be addressing a variety of village safety issues including information about recent "white van" incidents in La Grange as well as pedestrian safety. "Personally, I know a lot of people that have been talking about a variety of safety issues in La Grange," Council Chair David Schwartz said. He added that public safety is generally an issue at election time, and now is a good opportunity to residents to see what the village is focused on and what they have planned. What is with all of the Crazy Driving in La Grange recently? Theyhave signs on La Grange Rd to watch out for pedestrains I guess now it should include buildings. Buildings are not safe anymore.   more ›
