La Grange should see temperatures in the 60s this weekend.

Who is ready for some spring weather this weekend?  La Grange might just be in luck. Temperatures should be in the mid to high 60s all weekend with plenty of sunshine expected.  There is no precipitation in the forecast this weekend for La Grange. This is likely a welcome change for many as this April went down in the record books as the rainiest in 143 years.  Here is a more detailed look at the forecast in the coming days:  Are you ready for some warmer, drier, weather? Tips From a Vet: Is Your Pet Ready for Warm Weather?

Our early spring could mean more ticks, fleas and mosquitoes. Is your dog ready? Patch talks to La Grange Park's newest veterinarian, Dr. Susan Dowd, at Arbor Animal Hospital.

While it was nice to have such a mild winter and such a warm spring, it could have some consequences come summer. The warmer weather could mean more ticks, fleas and mosquitoes looking to dine on your dog. Luckily, La Grange Park has a new vet who knows her stuff. Dr. Susan Dowd, owner of Arbor Animal Hospital, 14 E. 31st St., in La Grange Park, said it’s easier to deal with problems (and cheaper too) with a little foresight. Since opening up her new clinic in La Grange Park, Dowd said the response from the community has been amazing. She's seen over 500 pets since opening in March, with nearly half her clients from the practice she worked at previously in Brookfield making the transition with her. "Ticks are what you need to worry about …

Salon Hype: Natural Looking and Slightly Untamed Hair is the Look this Spring

Salon Hype owner Ross Bartolomei says soft, natural hair with a bit of wild streak is the look that's in this spring.

With the early arrival of spring this year, downtown La Grange is already looking like a runway show. A walk by shops and restaurants along La Grange Road reveals spring fashion has arrived as well, modeled by La Grange residents who are excited to forget winter and move on to summer. If you want to look right this spring, the top is a good place to start, suggests Salon Hype owner Ross Bartolomei. "Everything is about nature right now," Bartolomei said and suggested La Grange women consider a softer, natural look for this season if they're considering a change. "We're seeing a kind of '50s and '70s mixed thing right now." Whether you want to go short or long, Bartolomei said, the look is natural with a bit of a wild side. This is a change…

La Grange Style

The Summer Pant Dilemma

With all the wacky styles, lengths and options out there for summer pants, our local style expert shares some very definitive fashion advice.

It's that time of year, alright.  I received this emailed question from a college friend who always, "tells it like it is."  Q.  What is it with all these cargo-style shorts and pants, cropped capris and otherwise leg-shortening summer pants, and this “boyfriend” everything?  As a woman of a certain age, I do not want all kinds of stuff hanging off and around my hips, nor do I want to look short and stumpy. And, I most certainly do not need a boyfriend.  What exactly am I supposed to wear this summer? A.  I hear you loud and clear, dear friend.  Shopping for summer pants can be more than a little daunting.  There are tons of pant styles out there, but few styles are both flattering and modern! First of all, cargo pants and shorts are …

OK Nancy - I'll try it. I actually do have a couple of pairs of walking shorts. I'm glad you said I can still wear them around the house and for gardening. Does anybody still wear the pants that are longer than capris, but shorter than regular length pants? They kind of hit just about the ankle? They used to call them "FLoods" but I always thought they looked cute with a pair of sandles for …   more ›
