Longtime Armand’s Fan Opening Pizzeria’s La Grange Location

La Grange gets a new pizza and Italian-food stop next week on La Grange Road, replacing the former DeLuca’s Deli and Grill.

Growing up in Elmwood Park, Mike Amato’s family was loyally faithful to Armand’s Pizzeria—so loyal, in fact, that even when the family moved a half hour away to Bloomingdale, they would still trek back to Armand's in Elmwood for birthday parties and other occasions. Now, Mike Amato has an Armand’s of his very own. The pizzeria has been franchised throughout the Chicagoland area since the late 1990s. It is scheduled to open in La Grange next Monday in one of the suites at 26 La Grange Road, the former DeLuca’s Deli and Grill, with Amato as general manager. Residents got a preview of their newest pizza joint during the La Grange Hometown Holiday, during which Armand’s dispensed slices from a whopping 80 pizzas to significant acclaim, they …

Fireside Pizza Now Serving Beer and Wine

La Grange trustees approved a liquor license for Fireside Wood Fired Pizza and Cafe in La Grange. The fast-casual restaurant now has a beer and wine selection to go with your pizza.

On Monday, La Grange trustees approved a liquor license application for Fireside Wood Fired Pizza and Cafe, 18 W. Harris Ave. in La Grange. "We'll be serving beer and wine with the menu now," said owner Greg Gron. That's good news for those who like to wash down a specialty sandwich or pizza with a brew or a glass of vino. "We have five selections of wine by the glass as well as bottled beer," Gron said. Customers can choose between a glass of chianti, pinot noir, pinot grigio, chardonnay or cabernet. Bottle beer options include Miller Lite, Sam Adams, Leinenkugel and Heineken to start. "It seems like people in La Grange are interested in the micro brews," Gron said and added that Fireside will be adding some craft brews to the menu …

Fireside: La Grange's Newest Pizza Joint Opens Today

Fireside, La Grange's new brick oven pizza joint, opens on Harris Avenue today.

If you're looking to put the flame back in your relationship, you might want to try doing it with a wood burning brick oven this Valentine's Day. They do say after all, the way to a man's heart is through his stomach. Just in time for Valentine's Day, is the opening of Fireside Wood Fired Pizza & Cafe, located at 18 W. Harris Ave. in downtown La Grange. Fireside officially opens for business today, and they're expecting a big turnout. The restaurant is a fast casual concept, which means there's a table if you want to bring the family in for dinner, but there's no server. It also means you wont have to wait long for your food. Fireside can cook up a pizza in two minutes in their 700-degree oven, imported from Italy.  Fireside specializes in…

Photos: Pizza Pies, Cookies and Etiquette

Bella Bacinos hosted its first pizza-making class for kids on Saturday.

On the first Saturday of Bella Bacino's pizza class last weekend, the chairs filled up fast. According to owner Linda Bacin, Bacino's was already working on filling up next weekend's class before the first one even got started. "I think we're going to have a lot of fun today," Bacin said as the kids sat down to places set with a small ball of dough and a chef's hat and apron for each participant to take home. The pizza-making class is part of Bella Bacino's events in February for La Grange Restaurant Week. Each little pizza chef got to hand make their own individual pie and decorate a special chocolate chip cookie—just wait till you see the topping choices!  After the kids finished eating, they also got a lesson in some basic dining …

Pizza Expert Gives Advice on Rounding Out Your Super Bowl Party

You can use the La Grange Patch directory for a large selection of pizza providers in your area.

Super Bowl Sunday may not actually be the biggest day of the year for pizza sales, but it's always in the top five, says Jeremy White, the editor-in-chief of Pizza Today magazine. “Halloween, the day before Thanksgiving and Super Bowl Sunday are all big days for pizza,” White said. “It varies from year to year, with New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day rounding out the top five days." At any rate, White is certainly a big advocate of ordering a few pies to enhance your Super Bowl viewing enjoyment. “You definitely want to have pizza and a few good drinks on hand to avoid any letdown in game,” White joked. At the risk of sounding cheesy, White gets right to the crust of the matter when it comes to pizza and offers these tips. Check out these …

La Grange Rd., celebrating restaurant week means fun events all month long. Starting this week, Bella Bacino's will be hosting pizza-making classes for kids on Saturdays from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and on Tuesdays, adults can drop by from 5-10 p.m. for special wine tasting events. Bites Nearby: Variety Is The Name Of The Game At Dino's Pizzeria and Fast Food

Patrons keep coming back for Philly sandwiches and pizza by the slice.

Driving down La Grange Road, there is a plethora of fast food dining choices. Dino’s Pizzeria & Fast Food at 1014 S. La Grange Road in La Grange has been serving up American favorites for over 25 years. An unassuming little building, Dino’s possesses all the trademarks of a mom and pop joint—tight dining quarters, two hanging TVs to keep you company while you eat and signs pasted all over the walls advertising their specials. The gyros dinner was uneventful. I would recommend asking for the ribbons of meat to be cooked up on the grill for a crispier texture and while you're at it, toast the pita bread too. Their basic cheeseburger was marginal in presentation and taste; however its one stand out feature was that they top the char-burger …

The Right Slice: A Local's Guide to Pizza

La Grange pies sampled, photographed and described, for easy choosing when eating time approaches.

Pizza is a mystery. Its origin remains uncertain. There's much debate as to what ingredients and culture create the best pizza. Thin crust, thick crust, stuffed and wood fired. Barbecued chicken, pineapple, pesto or giardiniera. An infinite amount of possibilities come together to satisfy unique cravings.  For all tastes, there's a pizza available locally. In the La Grange community, several vendors provide unique but interesting takes on the pie that shares fame in both Italy and Chicago. Here are some of the highlights: Di Nico's Pizza, 42 S. La Grange Road, sports a bold slogan claiming the world's largest slice—and they may be right. Five dollars buys a frozen-pizza-sized whopping handful of their handmade soft doughy thicker crust …
