Owner Justin Hudetz said he's excited to be in a new spot in La Grange after outgrowing the Western Springs location. Massage Envy has also added facials.
It's safe to say that Massage Envy has caught on around La Grange and Western Springs. During its four and a half years in Western Springs' Garden Market, the spa changed its hours to remain open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day. Now with a move to the old Borders Books building in La Grange, Massage Envy has even more space to serve its clients. "It's something we needed," franchise owner Justin Hudetz said. "There's a lot of healthy minded people here." Massage Envy moved to La Grange on April 13, and in this space will have 14 rooms and 3,400 square feet, upgrades over the 11 rooms and 2,600 square feet in Western Springs, Hudetz said. The Western Springs massage business moved from its Garden Market location to the old Borders Books building.
After sitting empty for a while, the old Borders Books building in La Grange is starting to fill. Massage Envy moved from Garden Market in Western Springs and opened in La Grange on April 13. The spa will be open daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. It offers customized massages tailored specifically to each person's aches and pains, including Swedish and deep tissue massages. It joins Smashburger, Great Clips and ATI Physical Therapy as tenants in the old Borders building. Smashburger, Great Clips and ATI Physical Therapy are already open. What else is in store?
More new businesses are filling the building previously occupied by Borders Books, which closed in September 2011. The building, located at La Grange Road and Hillgrove Avenue, was divided into several smaller spots for retail, dining and services. The shopping center went for $21.1 million as several new tenants prepare to occupy the newly divided former Borders bookstore.
A pension fund advised by RREEF Real Estate has spent $21.1 million to purchase the La Grange Crossing shopping center—including the former Borders—in downtown La Grange, Crain’s Chicago Business reports. According to Crain’s, the shopping center, which includes businesses between Ogden and Hillgrove avenues on both sides of La Grange Road like Trader Joe's and Walgreens, suffered a blow when Borders closed in September of 2011—but former owners Edwards Realty, who bought the property for $16.3 million in July 2010, recouped by divvying up the former bookstore into multiple suites.
