The full title: "The Eat What You Want Diet, aka The Shrwalk (Shrink And Walk Diet) - How I Lost 42 Pounds In 84 Days By Shrinking My Appetite and Walking."
A La Grange Park man who managed to drop 42 pounds of extra weight in less than three months is sharing his experience and strategy in a new eBook, The Doings La Grange reports. According to the paper, Gary Charles Metz said he lost the weight through a combination of appetite control and regular walking exercise on a beach in Floriday. "I was basking in the glow of compliments, and in May, I through I’d try writing an eBook," Metz told the paper. "It boils down to staying busy and not thinking about food. With the foods I craved so much, I decide does my stomach need it, or is it my taste buds that want it. The main thing is to keep walking an hour a day." The chiefs of the La Grange and La Grange Park police departments, Michael Holub and Daniel McCollum repsectively, say the effect of state and national firearms trends is difficult to estimate locally, The Doings La Grange reports. According to the paper, the chiefs expressed concern about a "culture of violence" and hoped that mandatory training and other restrictions would be placed on any concealed-carry permits. “I anticipate a series of restrictions, like prohibiting firearms in establishments serving alcohol, financial institutions and maybe some workplaces,” McCollum told the paper. “People don’t realize pointing a firearm at someone can be a civil and a criminal offense." “Everyone who purchases a weapon should have a class of some…

The structure, built in 1951, was torn down last week; a property manager for the lot says there are many options for what might go in the space.
The former site of an Original Pancake House on La Grange Road that closed in 2007 was leveled last week in order to make room for potential new commercial development in La Grange Park, the Doings La Grange reports. Although there was much interest in the one-story building, according to the paper, it was ultimately unattractive to tenants because it lacked handicap accessibility, modern sprinklers and an elevator to the basement. “Now one of our prime goals is to have people come by and have a vision for what the site could be," Peter Barritt, property manager for TBZ Realty & Management Corp, told the paper. "It’s not locked into the most recent use... We don’t know at this point.” Read the full story at the Doings Western Springs …
