Back to School Hair Tips: Good Hair in the Morning, Fast!

Sean Patrick's Salon and Spa in La Grange has some back to school hair tips to keep you in style this school year.

After a summer full of late nights and lazy mornings, getting the kids up and ready in time for school can be a bit of a challenge. Here are a few tips getting good hair in the mornings, fast. I highly recommend washing hair the night before and using conditioner on all kids—boys and girls. A light conditioner is fine for most little ones, which can be combed through while they're in the tub. The tangles will be a lot easier to comb out in the morning. Speaking of mornings, keep a spray bottle of water, or leave-in, weightless conditioning spray—such as Pureology's Essential Repair and Redken's Clear Moisture Instant Polishing Prep—in the bathroom to wet down your child's bed head. It is easy and is a big help with a quick hair fixes! -…

How to Control Curls in Heat and Humidity

With one of the hottest summers we've seen in years, Ross Bartolomei, owner of Salon Hype in La Grange, is giving us tips on how to survive summer in style.

Style Tip: Embrace your curls!  You may not know it, but all the women walking around with straight, flat hair are really jealous of your curls.  Keeping curl definition is key. One of the ways to do this is to refresh your curls with a product that I love called Shu Uemura Depsea Foundation Spray.  Divide your hair into 10 sections, then spray and twist each section and let them dry.  The effect is a tamed ringlet that gives you more control and a calmer curl that stands up to humidity. —Ross Bartolomei, owner, Salon Hype, La Grange

I have natural curly hair and Susan At Elysium is my saviour! She takes extra time to talk about what I want and always has ideas and suggestions. She does not rush through my services and doesn't push products down my throat. If she recommends something- I can totally trust it.   more ›
