Resident Opening Women’s Fitness Center in Downtown La Grange

La Grange resident Maureen Nosek is set to launch the first Illinois location of the Get in Shape for Women franchise on La Grange Road.

Women in the Lyons Township area looking for a friendly, supportive exercise option will have a new option starting in mid-October, as La Grange will welcome a branch of the franchise Get in Shape for Women, a fitness studio for female clients with a small-group approach to working out. The center is being opened at 79 S. La Grange Rd. by La Grange resident Maureen Nosek, who is departing a longtime career in pharmaceutical sales to pursue her passion for personal training. Park District Discusses Fitness Center Feasibility

Board questions whether or not the center makes economic sense.

If you build it they will come. But is it worth it to build a fitness center? That was the question pondered by the Park District of La Grange board of commissioners Thursday night. Commissioners discussed a feasibility study drafted by Strategic Management Alliance, the same company that drafted the park district's five-year strategic plan. In November, the park district applied for a grant worth about $1.5 million to help with the cost of establishing a fitness center. The total grant pool is $25 million, said Dean Bissias, executive director of the La Grange district. He said 20 percent of that kitty automatically goes to the city of Chicago, which leaves $20 million for the rest of the state. There is no guarantee the park district …
