Lipinski Meets with Local Group, Supports Some Gun-Control Measures

The Congressman (D-3rd District-Western Springs) said he supports universal background checks, restricting magazine sizes and making trafficking a federal crime.

The following is a press release from an currently unnamed local group of mothers, approved by the office of Congressman Lipinski. Twelve citizens of Western Springs and La Grange, all mothers of young children, met with Congressman Dan Lipinski on Friday, Feb. 8. They expressed their concern about gun violence and urged the congressman to support gun violence prevention measures including restricting assault-style weapons and high-capacity magazines, requiring universal background checks for all gun purchases and making gun trafficking a federal crime. La Grange, LGP Chiefs Talk Gun Laws and Sales

Michael Holub (La Grange) and Daniel McCollum (La Grange Park) weigh in on the state's potentially changing gun laws and increased sales numbers.

The chiefs of the La Grange and La Grange Park police departments, Michael Holub and Daniel McCollum repsectively, say the effect of state and national firearms trends is difficult to estimate locally, The Doings La Grange reports. According to the paper, the chiefs expressed concern about a "culture of violence" and hoped that mandatory training and other restrictions would be placed on any concealed-carry permits. “I anticipate a series of restrictions, like prohibiting firearms in establishments serving alcohol, financial institutions and maybe some workplaces,” McCollum told the paper. “People don’t realize pointing a firearm at someone can be a civil and a criminal offense." “Everyone who purchases a weapon should have a class of some…

There are 4 states that do NOT even require a permit to carry a loaded firearm. Some States that had previously banned carrying a loaded firearm in establishment that served alchol are REMOVING those restrictions!!
