Photos: Pizza Pies, Cookies and Etiquette

Bella Bacinos hosted its first pizza-making class for kids on Saturday.

On the first Saturday of Bella Bacino's pizza class last weekend, the chairs filled up fast. According to owner Linda Bacin, Bacino's was already working on filling up next weekend's class before the first one even got started. "I think we're going to have a lot of fun today," Bacin said as the kids sat down to places set with a small ball of dough and a chef's hat and apron for each participant to take home. The pizza-making class is part of Bella Bacino's events in February for La Grange Restaurant Week. Each little pizza chef got to hand make their own individual pie and decorate a special chocolate chip cookie—just wait till you see the topping choices!  After the kids finished eating, they also got a lesson in some basic dining …

No Joke, Kids Report to Enjoy Learning Good Manners!

At The Etiquette School of Chicago, founded by two local women, students learn how to socialize with a little respect.

As most people can attest, good manners seem to be in short supply. No matter the activity, be it driving, walking into a store, eating a meal, getting into an elevator, going down an escalator, carrying heavy boxes—it seems as though everyone is in a huge hurry and their errand or task is the most important one, disregarding people around them. Ellen Clayton, of La Grange Park, and Sherry D'Amico, of La Grange, are partners in The Etiquette School of Chicago. They are trying to do their part to help young people learn the art of good manners.  Their recently formed partnership began with an idea that children need to learn how to act in social situations, business situations, at dinner and in living everyday life—something over and beyond…
