LT Transition Students Decorate Grandfather Clock for "Hour Town" Art Exhibit

Students in LT's transition program are the designers of the West Suburban Chamber of Commerce's grandfather clock this year. The clock will appear in downtown La Grange as part of the village's summer art exhibit.

Students in Lyons Township High School's transition program will have their work on display this summer as part of the La Grange Business Association's summer art exhibit, "Hour Town La Grange: Time Well Spent." This summer, grandfather clocks will dot the La Grange landscape for the exhibit. Previous year's exhibits have included cow statues and rocking chairs purchased by area businesses and painted by local artists. The West Suburban Chamber of Commerce and Industry (WSCCI) commissioned transition students again this year to decorate their grandfather clock. Students in the program turned the clock into a tree and have spent time painting on leaves and branches. Titled, Hour Tree: It's Time To Grow, the clock will be on display in …

People are commenting on the number of vacant buildings and storefronts throughout the Western Suburbs, including La Grange and La Grange Park. Many speculate that the "for rent" signs portend the local economy is sick, that people are fearful to start up a business. Guess what? Vacant buildings mean that buildings are vacant. The rest of the discussion is conjecture. There are many causative relationships that create unused or vacant commercial space within a city or village.
