Police Blotter: Conflicted Report About Theft, Windows Smashed and More

La Grange police reports, Aug. 2-5

THURSDAY, AUG. 2 A woman called police at about 8:53 p.m. to report that a man in a hat and red shirt had stolen $120 from her at the intersection of Cossitt and Tilden avenues and took off running toward the tracks. She gave police the name of the man she believed robbed her and told police that she owed him money. Police believed the woman may have been intoxicated at the time of the report. She changed the location of the robbery several times and added that she owned the money for drugs. The amount of money stolen was also changed several times from $120 to $160 and then $180. Police received several calls on the 400 block of East Avenue at about 7:52 p.m. about a man caught stealing a bike. One caller told police that he caught …

Police Blotter: Couple Reported Having Sex in Park, Woman's Car Shot While in Maywood

La Grange and La Grange Park police reports, June 7-10.

SUNDAY, JUNE 10 A Chicago man was arrested at about 8:46 p.m. on June 10 after La Grange police said he entered a storage yard on the 600 block of east Elm Avenue. Tommie L. Carter, 33, of 5258 W. Ferdinand Ave., was charged with criminal trespass to property. A second man was released. After an alarm went off, police found a hole in a fence and two people inside the property. After an apparent first attempt on June 7 in which a copper pipe was cut, a central air conditioning unit was reported stolen June 10 out of a vacant house on Washington Avenue. WEDNESDAY, JUNE 6 A car driven by a 15-year-old girl struck a tree at 49th Street and Kensington Avenue  at about 3:34 p.m., according to La Grange police. The report stated Public Works would need to put up a new stop sign, but did not indicate whether the girl, whose hometown was not listed, hit it. She received one unidentified citation. A bicyclist, who struck a car parked at the entrance of Lexington Health Care, 4735 S. Willow Springs Rd., at about 12:53 p.m., refused medical treatment or to wait for police and continued southbound, police said. He was 18 to 20 years old and wore a backpack. Check of License Plate Leads Officer to Issue 3 Tickets

Bellwood man issued tickets for expired registration, no valid driver’s license and displaying false insurance papers.

A La Grange Park police officer who randomly checked the license plate of a car in front of him ended up giving the driver three tickets, including one for having false insurance paperwork. Ronnie L. Parker, 28, of Bellwood was ticketed for expired registration, no valid driver’s license and displaying false insurance papers. He faces a July 18 court date. An officer stopped southbound on the 800 block of north La Grange Road at about 5:35 a.m. May 30 checked the license plate of a 2000 Buick Century in front of the squad car and found it had expired in March. TUESDAY, JUNE 5 Two 15-year-old boys allegedly tried to steal alcohol at Walgreens, 2 N. La Grange Rd., at about 4:11 p.m. June 5. The store did not want to press charges. The boy were turned over to their parents.   The La Grange Fire Department freed some passengers stuck in the elevator at the La Grange Public Library, 10 W. Cossitt Ave., at about 6:21 p.m. Library officials were to call to have the elevator checked. A 30-year-old woman wearing a hospital gown was reported running south from Adventist la Grange Memorial Hospital, 5101 S. Party Loud Loud noise at a party in a home on the 700 block of Seventh Avenue was reported at about 10:06 p.m. June 3. A resident told police they would keep down the noise for the night. Cola Caper: 217 Bottles of Pop Stolen

Two vending machines at Gordon Park are emptied.

More than 200 bottles of pop were taken out of vending machines at Gordon Park overnight on June 2, according to La Grange police. One machine was emptied and another tipped over, and 217 bottles removed. Police did recover some products that had been left. A tennis net also was missing and may have been used to wrap up and carry some bottles, Park District of La Grange officials told police. A gray vehicle with a white top was seen in the area. Sunday, June 3 Police Seek Brookfield Robbery Suspect La Grange police were called to East and Ogden avenues at about 5:28 p.m. to look for a suspect in a Brookfield armed robbery but said they could not find the man. He was wearing a black hoodie and blue hat, and last was seen riding a bicycle west. Friday, June 1 BB Pellet Hits Youth A boy said he and a friend were walking in the former Rich Port YMCA’s lower lot at 31 E. Ogden Ave. at about 8:46 p.m. when someone shot at them with a BB gun. His friend was hit, but the pellet did not break his skin and he declined treatment. Five to eight boys were seen in the area and one was believed to have fired the pellet, La Grange police said. Stopped for Speeding, Woman Urinates on Sidewalk

Driver, 'couldn't stay in lane because she was using cell phone, eating lollipop.'

A 27-year-old Chicago woman received six tickets May 25 after La Grange Park police said her car was stopped for speeding at about 5:15 a.m. and, while being questioned, she urinated on the sidewalk in front of a nursing home. Sonia Olvera, of the 600 block of north Ada Street, was ticketed for driving under the influence; illegal transportation of alcohol; speeding, 46 mph in a 30-mph zone; improper lane usage; no proof of insurance; and violating a village nuisance ordinance for urinating in public. She paid $100 bail and faces a June 27 court date. A police officer was at the Village Market South on the 400 block of north La Grange Road waiting for traffic to clear and saw a northbound black convertible without a front license plate. …

Blotter: False Kidnapping Report Made, Bikes Stolen and More

False Kidnapping Report Made A 19-year-old Brookfield man called La Grange police at about 12:04 a.m. June 1 to say he was just kidnapped, forced to drive a man and was at Bluff and Benton avenues. He said he had picked up a man at East and Ogden avenues who said he needed a ride. Police  said the call was unfounded and he was charged with disorderly conduct for filing a false police report. Bike, Lacrosse Stick Stolen A resident of the 700 block of south Spring Avenue reported May 29 that, two months ago, someone stole a lacrosse stick out of his vehicle parked in the driveway; and, one month ago, a 10-speed bicycle was stolen out of the garage.
