LT Lacrosse Wins Playoff Opener Over St. Charles East

The Lions' Luke Gallagher led the way with three goals and give assists to give LT the 12-6 win.

Lyons Township's boys lacrosse team scored two goals in an eight-second span Tuesday, making the lead too much for St. Charles East to recover from in the opening round of the playoffs. LT won 12-6 following the second-half outburst.  The Saints opened the game with two goals by Alex O'Brien and Brett Hickey, Lyons tied the it at 2 with 39 seconds left in the first half thanks to a goal and assist by Luke Gallagher, who led the way with three goals and five assists. "He's the best goal-scorer in the state," Lyons coach Bill Kalbfleisch said. "He's the best offensive player we've ever had. He sees the field really well." LT Boys Track Qualifies for 17 State Events

The Lions won their home sectional and are looking to accomplish more at the state meet next weekend.

The Lyons Township boys track team has been ranked highly all year by area media, and the Lions showed why at the sectional meet last weekend. LT won its Class 3A home sectional and qualified for 17 events at state. Nick Demes, Matthew Harris and Lino Mogorovic each qualified for two events, and the team qualified for every relay event. CHAMPION! LT's Stephanie Lin Wins State Badminton Title

Lin, a Lyons Township sophomore, said she surprised herself with the run she made, which included wins over top competitors she had lost to five times this season.

Lyons Township's Stephanie Lin made a goal for her sophomore season on the Lions badminton team: make it to the state quarterfinals. She did that and then kept on rolling, upsetting top seeds en route to the Illinois singles badminton championship.  "It was just a big surprise," Lin said. "I wasn't really expecting to get that far. I was in a dream-like state." Lin, a Burr Ridge resident, topped Marissa Levy of Deerfield, Beatrice Jin of Naperville North and Julia Carson of York to make the final eight. Then came the biggest challenge: facing the undefeated Ailynna Chen, of Hinsdale Central, also one of her closest friends and a fellow club team member. Lyons Township HS Boys' Gymnastics Places Fifth at State

The team also had several athletes place in individual events.

  The Lyons Township High School boys’ gymnastics team placed fifth at the Illinios High School Association state meet this weekend. The team also had several athletes place in the all-around and individual events at the meet held May 11-12 at Lincoln-Way East High School in Frankfurt, according to the IHSA website. LT Baseball Tops Hinsdale Central on Walk-off Hit (Photos)

Only one run was scored through five innings, but LT came back from a 4-1 hole to win 5-4 on a walk-off hit by Sam Cybulski.

It was a pitchers' duel between rivals Lyons Township and Hinsdale Central through five innings Monday, but offensive attacks by both teams down the stretch led to an exciting 5-4 LT win. Lyons pitcher Alex Vannucci was impressive through five innings, allowing seven hits but striking out five Central batters, including Matt Muellner to escape a bases-loaded jam in the fifth inning.  But the wheels came off in the sixth inning when Vannucci surrendered five straight hits, including three doubles and a triple, to put LT in a 4-1 hole.  The Lions tied the game in the bottom half of the inning. LTHS is having a 'Pink Out'

Support the female student athletes from Lyons Township High School at the 4th annual Pink Out games on May 4.

Lyons Township High School will its fourth annual "Pink Out" to celebrate the achievements of female student athletes at LTHS and illustrate the charitable efforts of the student body. This year's events include: Friday, May 3: Fourth annual Little Lions Pink Out Clinic conducted by the girls soccer program. The Little Lions Clinic is for girls ages 5 to 11 and the entire community is welcome to attend the games on Saturday, May 4.  Saturday, May 4:  Pink Out games 3 p.m. Girls LAX vs. Marian Catholic  5 p.m. Girls LT Soccer vs. Glenbard East All proceeds from the 2013 Little Lions Pink Out Soccer Clinic and Pink Out games will be donated to the Karen Dove Cabral Foundation, which provides financial assistance to young women with breast …

Lyons Township Alumni Take National Club Volleyball Title: Q&A

Jason Dolinski and Sam Thimmig both played varsity volleyball at Lyons Township. They reunited on the U of I men’s club team this year and helped carry it to a national victory.

Volleyball has played a part of Jason Dolinski and Sam Thimmig’s lives ever since their childhood in La Grange Park—Dolinski started playing in fifth grade and Thimmig in seventh. That passion carried through their varsity careers at Lyons Township High School and now to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where the men took home the national championship in club volleyball at the beginning of April. Dolinski, a freshman majoring in electrical engineering, and Thimmig, a senior majoring in finance, shared with Patch the secrets to their athletic success.
