For more than 50 years, St. Louise de Marillac School has educated children from the La Grange Park extended community. It is a large facility that sits in a residential area, flanked by three quiet streets and one major thouroughfare, 31st St.

While many of the school's pre-K to 8th grade students are Catholic, and many students are St. Louise de Marillac Catholic Parish parishoners, the school requires neither of their applicants.

"We have a high academic standard," principal Michele Bancroft said. "Our test scores are well above average, our teachers are very dedicated and our students get both regular and religous education."

In 8th grade, students complete a confirmation project, which includes a volunteer component many students have fulfilled by working on street clean-ups and by giving their time to CEP Youth Leadership.
