Temps to Drop Below 0 Monday—Again

National Weather Service predicts subzero temperatures in the area starting Monday.

The National Weather Service Friday issued a weather advisory, warning of up to four inches of snow Friday night.

Temperatures are expected to drop Sunday, with a low around -4 Sunday night and a high near -2 on Monday and Tuesday. The predicted low for Monday night is -15.

Metra already started warning commuters of "likely" delays Monday on Friday.

"Please allow extra travel time to assure safe passage to and from your destination," the Metra alert reads. "In the interest of safety, we will be operating at reduced speeds, if necessary, to reduce the stress on the rails. Cold weather often leads to slower boarding and we therefore expect station stops to be longer than usual."
