(CHICAGO, March 25, 2013) -- As gang violence continues to plague areas of Cook County and dangerous criminals slip through the system, this is no time to put law enforcement in the hands of politicians and untrained bureaucrats.  Bill Evans is a 21-year veteran of the Cook County Sheriff's Office who stands ready to lead as a true law enforcement professional.  Evans is prepared to bring real street experience, engaged leadership and law enforcement credibility as Cook County's next sheriff.

Last month, family friend and American hero First Sergeant, (retired U.S. Army) Matt Eversmann publicly endorse Bill Evans for Cook County Sheriff.  “I’ve known Bill more than 20 years.  His love for Cook County, his family and for being a police officer is always on his sleeve,“ says Eversmann.  CLICK FOR FULL VIDEO.

Recipient of a Bronze Star Medal, Eversmann's legendary leadership was portrayed by Josh Hartnett in the epic film, Black Hawk Down, which recounts the harrowing hours when US soldiers in Somalia were trapped in a hostile district of Mogadishu. Young Rangers led by Eversmann and Delta Force soldiers fought side-by-side, outnumbered and marked for death by an angry mob, until a rescue convoy was mounted. “Bill is a man of integrity, skill and courage who takes action,” adds Eversmann, “I know firsthand, the only way to get through a crisis is with strong leadership.  Bill is that type of man – he would have been a great Ranger.”

Evans is a career law enforcement professional -- not a career politician.  “Bill isn’t a camera-seeking publicity hound.   He's a hands-on, sleeves-rolled-up problem solver -- a true leader,” adds Eversmann.  For more than 20 years, Evans has worked Cook County Patrol, Gang Crimes and SWAT.  He has managed federal and local safety programs, administered The Safe Schools Program nationwide, trained international police departments and mentored youth.  An active police officer, Evans is respected and supported by his fellow colleagues.  He is concerned about the deteriorating state of law enforcement and declining morale.  He is committed to restoring the faith in effective law enforcement for Cook County residents.

“You can’t fool Bill,” says longtime friend and world boxing champ David Diaz, “he‘s worked the streets for too long and knows what works and what doesn’t out there.”  Evans is a “team player and a true role model”, adds Diaz,” he has a kind heart and a strong moral backbone.  He will be an outstanding sheriff.”  Diaz also endorsed Evans this year.

Evans knows there is no "academic theory" substitute for qualified hands-on experience.  For decades, he has implemented educational training programs and knows how to get results.   As a forward-looking leader, Evans sees little point in wasting valuable resources and tax dollars on digging up bodies from the past.

Bill Evans is ready to bring real-life law enforcement experience to the office of Cook County Sheriff in 2014.

Among his recent public endorsements, Evans has enjoyed the support of other notable Chicagoans including former NFL player for the Falcons and Rams Tim Tyrell, former WBS Light Heavyweight World Champion and '92 Olympian Montell "Ice" Griffinf, Chicago Golden Gloves Champion Mike "the Fly" Garcia, world renown award-winning musician Nicholas Gunn, former Chicago Bear tight-end Brian Glasgow and Candidate for Cook County Commissioner of the 5th District, Tim Parker.
