Two Lyons Township High School students, sophomore Austin Rice and junior Vlad Malinovic, both of LaGrange Park, were named semifinalists in the Illinois Tollway Map Cover Art Contest. Artists were charged with creating art to remind drivers about the need to drive safely in work zones where construction activity is happening on the Illinois Tollway. The winning image will be printed on the cover of more than 125,000 tollway maps and displayed on the Illinois Tollway website. The semifinalist artwork is currently on display at seven Illinois Tollway oases and will be posed online through November 1st for the public to vote for their favorite.
