Rock-a-thon is coming!

Lyons Township High School’s radio station, WLTL 88.1, is hosting a Rock-a-thon to raise money for the station. The event will begin at 5am Friday, February 14, and conclude at 9:06pm Monday, February 17, for a total of 88.1 continuous hours. LTTV will also broadcast and stream video live over the internet and cable.

Students have made it their goal to raise $15,000 in pledges from listeners directly by the end of the weekend.  Listeners will be able to call pledges into 708-482-9585 or donate online by clicking the link available at www.wltl.net.  This is in addition to any funds previously raised through sponsorships from local businesses and silent auctions.

In addition to listening to Rock-a-thon at 88.1 FM, LTTV will simulcast via cable on Comcast ch.99 and AT&T U-Verse ch. 99. Rock-a-thon will also be streamed LIVE on High School Cube. The station’s social media presence will be in full swing with more interactive features, including live Twitter feeds. Listeners and viewers can use Twitter to spread the word about Rock-a-thon or tweet their support. Twitter users can use #rockathon and their tweets will be submitted for review. If the tweet is appropriate, it will be put up on the screen live during Rock-a-thon. Web content will be posted throughout the weekend, with posts to Facebook and video content on our YouTube pages.

Funds raised from the weekend will not only support WLTL throughout the next year, but will also help defray the cost of renovating the studios at South Campus. In addition, WLTL will also be completing a four-year technology upgrade by connecting our south and north campus studios so both are able to broadcast on-air at 88.1 FM.  They will also replace the connection between the studios and the transmitter—a connection that hasn’t been updated since WLTL moved from the Vaughn Building in the early 1980s.
