LT’s Lion newspaper recognized at national convention

Lyons Township High School's student newspaper, Lion, accumulated an all-staff and several individual awards at the national high school journalism fall convention hosted by the Journalism Education Association and the National School Press Association (JEA/NSPA).

 

The October 31, 2013, issue of the Lion earned tenth place in the Best of Show Broadsheet 17 or more page category competition at the annual convention in Boston, November 14-17, 2013. With nearly 6,000 attendees, this was one of the largest fall conventions ever held by JEA/NSPA.

In individual write-off competition at the convention, seven of the senior students who attended placed in individual contests. In total 2,032 students entered various write-off contests, with 859 winning awards: 141 Superior, 259 Excellent and 459 Honorable Mention awards.
