LTHS teacher/coach named one of 75 finalists for national award

Lyons Township High School physical education teacher and boys’ varsity swim coach Scott Walker was recently named a finalist for Positive Coaching Alliance's Double-Goal Coach Award, given annually to youth and high school coaches who pursue winning and teaching life lessons through sports. More than 1700 nominations were received nationwide and just 75 finalists remain in the running.

Walker is a candidate for one of 25 national honors that include $250; a trophy; mention in PCA's publicity campaigns; and the chance to accept the award in California during PCA's National Youth Sports Awards Dinner. PCA will announce the 25 winners on March 4.

The Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) is a national non-profit developing "Better Athletes, Better People" by working to provide all youth and high school athletes a positive, character-building sports experience. One way PCA does this is by holding up as examples the nation's outstanding youth coaches.
