LTHS Rock-a-thon surpasses fundraising goal
Lyons Township High School’s radio station, WLTL 88.1, raised a grand total of $24,211 at its weekend Rock-a-thon. The event began at 5am February 14, and concluded at 9:06pm February 17, for a total of 88.1 continuous hours. LTTV also broadcasted and streamed video live over the internet and cable.
Students surpassed their goal to raise $15,000 in pledges to help defray the cost of renovating the studios at South Campus. WLTL will also be completing a four-year technology upgrade by connecting the south and north campus studios so both are able to broadcast on-air at 88.1 FM. They will also replace the connection between the studios and the transmitter—a connection that hasn’t been updated since WLTL moved from the Vaughn Building in the early 1980s.
In addition to listening to Rock-a-thon at 88.1 FM, LTTV simulcast via cable on Comcast ch.99 and AT&T U-Verse ch. 99. Rock-a-thon also streamed LIVE on High School Cube. The station’s social media presence was in full swing with more interactive features, including live Twitter feeds.
