LTHS artist earns national titles

Lyons Township High School student-artist senior Peter Gajewski, of LaGrange, earned two medals in the 2013 National Scholastic Art Awards. Gajewski received a gold medal for his photograph, entitled Streetlight above three bicycles, and a silver medal for his photograph, entitled I have eight hundred years and omnipresence. His pieces were two of just 13 in Illinois recognized in the photography category, and of the 13 photographs, only four gold medals were given statewide.

In total, LT sent 20 pieces of art created by nine LT students to the Scholastic Art Awards national competition in New York, where they joined selections from across the country. Judges critiqued and chose just 700 winning pieces based on thought, technique, execution and overall impact.
