Community Park District's 20th Annual Run for the Roses 5K Race
The Community Park District of LaGrange Park is holding its 20th Annual Run for the Roses 5K race on Saturday, May 14th. Start time is set for 8:00 am. This wildly popular event takes runner and walkers around the LaGrange Park neighborhoods, with a medal and rose ceremony afterwards to celebrate individual achievements by men, women and children of all ages. New this year will be a Fun Run designed specifically for the younger kids, ages 7 and under. The Fun Run will be held after the race itself. Also on hand will be a clown to entertain the kids, a moonwalk and a DJ to help keep the crowd pumped.
Run for the Roses starts and ends on the west side of Forest Road School, 901 Forest Road. Food and drink will be provided to all participants as well as t-shirts for the first 450 participants. Registration is ongoing, with lower fees as follows: PRIOR to May 12th, runners are $16 per person; walkers are $12 per person. ON or AFTER May 12th, runners are $20 per person; walkers are $16 per person. Packets will be made prior to the event and can be picked up at the Recreation Center, 1501 Barnsdale Rd. on Friday, May 13th from 8:30 am – 6:30 pm. Late registration and all left over packets can be picked up at the start/finish line the morning of the race, from 6:30 – 7:35 am.
Race forms are available for download at the Community Park District website, www.cpdlgp.org, or you can visit the Recreation Center, 1501 Barnsdale Rd and fill one out there. Forms are also available at the Village of LaGrange Park, the LaGrange Park Library and the First National Bank of Brookfield.
