Photo Gallery: Grandparent/Elder Day at St. Francis Xavier
Nearly 100 older guests dropped by the La Grange school on Friday as part of the school's first-grade service theme of "Care for Older Friends."
St. Francis Xavier School welcomed about 90 guests on Friday for their first-grade Grandparents'/Elders' Day, part of their "Care for Older Friends" yearlong service theme, and preparation for later in December when the class will visit Bethlehem Woods Retirement Community as part of the school's All-Service Day.
The guests—many grandparents, some other older friends like neighbors, and one great-grandmother all the way from Ohio—played games with the first-graders, read together and "experience[d] what it's like to be a first grader again."
