News Brief: Chicken Pox Case Confirmed at LTHS

School working to prevent the spread of the virus.

One case of the chicken pox virus has been confirmed at Lyons Township High School, according to an email alert from Supertintendent Timothy Kilrea on March 25. The email indicates the person with the highly contagious infection has been treated and that necessary precautions have been made by the school in accordance with a consultation with the Cook County Department of Public Health.

"We are doing everything possible to protect the health of our students and limit the spread of chickenpox, including making sure custodians attend to high-touch surfaces and ensuring washrooms and locker rooms are adequately stocked with soap and paper towels. Our school nurses are staying informed and monitoring the situation on a daily basis," the email states.

The email advises to call the Cook County Department of Public Health at 708-492-2150 or a primary care physician with questions.
