LTHS to Hear Anti-Bullying Speaker

A press release from Lyons Township High School.

Lyons Township High School is proud to host Barbara Coloroso, an internationally recognized author and speaker in the areas of parenting, positive school climate and nonviolent conflict resolution, over the course of two days to present to teachers, students and parents of the District 204 communities.

Coloroso will address faculty and staff at the LTHS School Improvement Day Monday, March 12, focusing on what they can do to step in to maintain a positive school climate. Later that evening, she will make a 1½ hour presentation geared toward parents/guardians and community members. Her address will focus on the three characters in the bully circle and what families can do to help kids break the cycle of violence. The parent presentation is scheduled for 7pm at the LTHS North Campus Reber Center, 100 S. Brainard Ave., LaGrange. Admission is free.

Students will hear from Coloroso Tuesday, March 13, with assemblies at both North and South campuses. She will discuss bullying and sexual harassment.

This marks the third time Coloroso has spoken at LT. Superintendent Kilrea said, “Coloroso is one of the foremost authorities on anti-bullying efforts and we’re hopeful she can impart the tools necessary for our students, staff, parents and community to thwart bad behavior before it surfaces. It will take effort on the part of everyone to maintain and improve upon our school climate.”
