Summer Fees Rise for Football, Gymnastics

The board unanimously approved an increase in summer fees for the football gymnastics programs. Fees for both programs will increase this summer because of a deficit in the programs last year, Scott Eggerding, director of curriculum said.

Fees for the first and second levels of football and for the first level of gymnastics will increase from $50 to $75. Fees for the third and fourth levels of football and the second level of gymnastics will increase from $90 to $125. Fees for the top level of gymnastics will remain the same.

The fee increases are expected to result in a surplus for the program after the summer to balance last year's deficit.

"This brings us closer to what other programs charge," Eggerding told the board.

Bruce Falli Receives Vita Plenta Award

Science teacher Bruce Falli was honored at the Dec. 19 meeting as the recipient of the school's Vita Plenta award. Falli teaches chemistry and physical science at LTHS and was noted for his use of technology in the classroom—particularly his use of podcasts to record lectures.

I think the thing that really impressed me most... is what you’ve done technology wise,” Superintendent Tim Kilrea said at the meeting.

More Teachers Needed

Since the start of the school year, 73 new students have transferred into LT, most at South Campus. As a result, the school will need to hire more staff to meet the student's needs at South Campus where 48 of the 73 new students have enrolled.
