LT Orchestra to Play at Chicago's Symphony Center, Lyric Opera Comes to LT

The Lyons Township High School Sinfonietta will perform at Chicago's Symphony Center on the Orchestra Hall Stage April 9. Members of Chicago's Lyric Opera will perform at LT on April 19.

Many performers dream of one day getting a chance to play on the stage at Chicago's Symphony Center. This April, students at Lyons Township High School are getting a chance to do just that.

On April 9, students in LT's Sinfonietta (a medium-sized orchestra) will be under the lights on the Orchestra Hall stage at the Chicago Symphony Center. Students will also get a chance to train with the best. Brant Taylor, a DePaul University professor and a cellist for the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, will hold a strings clinic with the group on the stage.

The performance is set to begin at 3:45 p.m. and will feature a 45-minute set of students performing works by Handel, Sibelius, Grainger and Mozart.

LT to Host Lyric Opera Performers

If you're a fan of classical music, you won’t want to miss the orchestra's other April event. Three performers from Chicago's Lyric Opera, soprano Janet Mensen Reynolds (an LT alumni), soprano Rose Guccione, and tenor Ken Donovan will perform with the LT orchestras at the school's Spring Concert scheduled for Thursday, April 19 at 7:30 p.m. at the Reber Center, 100 S. Brainard Ave., at .

The performers will be dressed in full costume and wigs to go along with the concert's theme of A Night at the Opera and will feature opera music from Bizet, Puccini, Mozart, Handel, Sullivan, Verdi and others.
