LT Model UN takes first at 20-school conference

Lyons Township High School’s Model United Nations took first place at the Model United Nations at the University of Illinois (MUNI). More than 400 students representing 20 schools participated in the weekend-long event.

This year’s conference was designed to foster a forum in which delegates discussed the most pertaining issues of today and immersed themselves in the exiting world of conflict resolution and diplomacy. The nineteenth session of MUNI was host to 13 different committees ranging from General Assemblies to unique simulations committees, a Security Council, an International Criminal Court, and an International Press Delegation.

The Model United Nations experience brings to life the problems that face the real world and allows participants to represent their assigned country's position and work toward resolving issues of global importance. Model United Nations is an authentic simulation of the UN General Assembly. A Model UN delegate is a student who assumes the role of an ambassador to the United Nations.
