LT to Remain Closed Tuesday

Tuesday will be the fourth weather-related off day for LT students this month.

For the fourth time this month, Lyons Township students will get an unanticipated off day.

The high school will be closed for the second straight day Tuesday due to the extremely cold weather, according to a statement from superintendent Tim Kilrea.

"The combination of bitterly cold temperatures, no assurances that buses will function properly and in an effort to keep students and staff safe, all after school activities are also cancelled and will be re-scheduled; this includes all athletic practices and club meetings," Kilrea's statement reads. "According to Illinois school code, LT is required to make up this missed day, which will require the use of emergency days already on the adopted LT school calendar. We will communicate the plan for making up this day in the coming weeks."
