Learning Ladders Preschool Enrollment Starts Next Month

From the Park District of La Grange:

The Park District of La Grange has two upcoming opportunities for parents to gain a sneak peak at its Learning Ladders Preschool for the 2014-15 school year.

The preschool, located at Gilbert Park (41st and Gilbert Ave., La Grange) and Sedgwick Park Building (10th Ave and 48th St., La Grange), will have an open house on Wednesday, Jan. 15 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. and on Saturday, Jan. 18 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at both facilities.

"Our open house gives parents the opportunity to meet our teachers, view our facilities and see what we have to offer your child," said Diana Faught, Early childhood Supervisor for the Park District. "If you are considering enrolling your child for the 2014-15 school year, this is your chance to see what Learning Ladders Preschool has to offer."

Registration for the 2014-15 school year begins on Feb. 3 for residents of La Grange and Countryside and Feb. 10 for non residents. Each class is limited to 12 children, and classes usually fill up quickly, so parents are urged to register their children as soon as possible.

Teachers write lesson plans that follow the Illinois Early Learning Standards, and programs are divided by age. For 2½ to 3 year olds, Learning Ladders offers three different options. Beginner Brown Bears meets on Monday and Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Gilbert Park Building, while Beginner Black Bears (Gilbert Park Building) and Little Lions (Sedgwick Park Building) meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Older students meet from 12:15 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. at Gilbert Park, with Middle Monkeys (ages 3 to 4) meeting on Tuesday and Thursday and Tall Tigers (ages 4 to 5) meeting Monday, Wednesday and Friday. New this year at Sedgwick Park is Leaping Lizards (ages 3-4) meeting on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and Eager Eagles (ages 4-5) meeting Monday through Friday from 12:15 p.m. to 2:45 p.m.
