PCN to Host Movie RACE TO NOWHERE at Parent University Continued

Parent and Community Network (PCN) will host the documentary Race to Nowhere , which has been shown across the nation during the past six months and is raising awareness and discussion about the impact school systems and parents have on our youth's stress levels. Featuring the heartbreaking stories of young people in all types of communities who have been pushed to succeed, educators who are worried that students aren't developing the skills they need, and parents who are trying to do what is best for their kids, Race to Nowhere points to the silent epidemic in our schools: cheating becoming commonplace, students disengaging, stress-related illnesses and depression becoming more rampant, and young people arriving at college and the workplace unprepared and uninspired.

Vicki Abeles, first-time filmmaker, was inspired to make Race to Nowhere out of concern for her children. A mother of three and former Wall Street attorney, Abeles awakened to this crisis as her 12- year old daughter was being treated for stress-related illness. She saw personally how the pressures were overwhelming not only to her own kids, but to students everywhere - in every kind of school environment and community.

PCN invites you to attend the movie and discussion as part of Parent University Continued. It will be shown on Tuesday March 22 at 7:00 pm at  the Lyons Township High School South Campus Performing Arts Center in Western Springs. Tickets are $10 online at www.rtnlyonstownship.eventbrite.com or $15 at the door. Maximum seating is 300.
