Park District of La Grange to host free College Financial Planning Seminar on Wednesday, September 14

As college costs continue to skyrocket, financial aid is becoming an increasingly critical factor in determining college choice for many families.  Whether your child is a freshman or senior, there are steps you can take now to maximize your child's financial aid packages.  On Wednesday, September 14 from 7-9pm, the Park District of La Grange will host a free college financial planning seminar at the Recreation Center, located at 536 East Avenue.

The seminar will be led by Ryan Williamson, a certified financial planner® and certified college planning specialist at College Horizons, a division of Horizon Wealth Management in La Grange.  Mr. Williamson has the distinction to be one of only eighteen Certified College Planning Specialists in the state of Illinois.

Parents will learn about which assets and earnings will count against you when applying for financial aid and how to reposition your assets to help lower your EFC (expected family contribution) to receive the best financial aid offers.  They will also find out how to restructure your finances and find hidden money in your budget for college expenses.
