Camp Trailblazers getting set for its first summer!

Take a sneak peek at the Park District of La Grange's newest full-day camp!

There’s a new camp in town, and it’s sure to be a blast.

With last fall’s announcement of the partnership between the Park District of La Grange and the City of Countryside Recreation Department, one of the biggest benefits to the park district was the ability to utilize Countryside’s flagship park, the 11-acre Countryside Park. This summer, Countryside Park will be the home to Camp Trailblazers, a full-day camp for boys and girls ages 5-12 years old.

“I am really looking forward to our first summer at Countryside Park with Camp Trailblazers,” said Kevin Miller, supervisor of the new camp. “This is a beautiful park with so many wonderful features for the staff and the campers to enjoy.”

In addition to sports, games, crafts, water activities and themed activities, campers at Camp Trailblazers will be able to utilize Countryside Park’s first-rate features and amenities – a large playground, two gazebos, sand volleyball courts, a skate park, a inline hockey rink, softball fields, walking path and plenty of open space.

But the action doesn’t stop at the park. Campers will be taking a field trip every Wednesday to fun-filled places like amusement centers and water parks, and every Friday, the campers will travel with counselors to Centennial Pool in Lemont for an afternoon of swimming. Additionally, every Thursday will be a water activity day with a camp cook-out back at the park.

“We have some great trips and events planned for this summer,” Miller said. “One of the bigger events I am currently working on is bringing in Reptile Rampage to do a show for the camp.”

From now until the end of March, the Park District of La Grange is offering patrons the opportunity to save 10 percent off the registration fee for two or more one-week sessions of Camp Trailblazers – along with Camp Tiny Tots, Camp Mighty Munchkins, Camp-A-Palooza and Camp Quest – as part of its Early Bird Registration. This camp is open to boys and girls from all around Chicagoland, so parents are encouraged to register early to secure a spot as well as take advantage of the savings.
