Preckweinkle is the leader Cook County has longed for!

Toni Preckwinkle gave excellent speech at Chamber's Legislative Breakfast

The Chamber welcomed Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle to the Legislative Affairs Council breakfast on May 16th.  Most of the ninety attendees were business women and men from the nine communities that make up the West Suburban Chamber of Commerce and Industry.  Commissioner Jeffrey Tobolski gave closing remarks.

The most sanguine point that Ms. Preckwinkle made was that she honored her word when she was running for the office by bringing in sound management practices where many areas were lacking.  Some of those practices are reducing the costs to provide the same level of County services, finding ways to trim or deeply cut operating budgets, and looking at opportunities to mesh similar departments or consolidate activities.  The list is huge and covers all levels of County government.

Toni, as she likes to be called, wants your input.  She would like you to nominate yourself to serve on a committee and/or share your expertise.  You might be just the right person for a commission or board.  You won't know unless you investigate the opportunities to serve.

She has sought out experts in many fields to give advice and guidance on how to run a more responsible county government.  If the trend continues, we will be positively astounded by the efficiencies and dollar savings we might see in a few years to come.

At the end of her remarks, questions were taken from the audience.  On all counts, Toni reinforced that we have a leader that will serve us well.
