Post Office, Fire Alarms and Banners on the Agenda at La Grange Park Board Meeting Tonight

A preview of what trustees will be discussing tonight at a La Grange Park village board workshop at Village Hall.

Trustees in La Grange Park have a lot to discuss at tonight's village board meeting. Tonight's meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. at Village Hall, located at 447 N. Catherine Ave. in La Grange Park.

On the agenda tonight is a discussion and possible action on a leased parking lot between the village and the La Grange Post Office; a discussion of the village's current fire alarm monitoring agreement; and a discussion and possible action on a La Grange Park Business Association banner program.

Trustees will be considering whether to accept a $6000 lump sum buyout for the termination of a lease between the village and the La Grange Post Office for space that was previously used as a post office parking lot.

The agreement would terminate the lease at the end of August. The current lease has 34 payments remaining, at a total sum of $9,916.78.

Fire Alarm Monitoring:

Various types of buildings in La Grange Park are required to be protected by automatic fire alarm systems by the village fire code. Trustees will discuss what plan of action to take as the system has become outdated.

The current system is monitored by ADT Security on behalf of the village. The village has three options: it can purchase a new system outright, lease a system with the intent to own, or continue to use a vendor to administer the system.

The discussion will largely have an effect on certain business owners in La Grange Park, but your tax dollars play a role too.

Business Banners:

Trustees will be discussing and likely voting on a program offered by the La Grange Park Business Association for banners to be placed on light poles along La Grange Road and along 31 Street. The banners would be used to promote businesses in La Grange Park to residents and people just passing through.
