La Grange Park Village Board Approves Budget

Village Approves 2011/12 Budget

The Village of La Grange Park board unanimously voted to approve its $11 million budget on Tuesday night, although, not without some concerns.

Trustee Marshall Seeder said that he would vote to approve the budget, but had reservations about the amount of revenue the village was predicting would come in.

"I do believe something has to be said about the budget that has been proposed," Seeder said, adding that he believes that estimates for the villages's revenue projections feel "aggressive" and "optimistic."

In particular, Seeder said he was concerned that lower revenues from sales taxes could significantly impact the La Grange Park budget if the Illinois legislature were to vote to keep a larger percentage of the revenue that is passed back to local government, due to budget issues on the state level.

"It's going to require us to be vigilant on an on-going basis," Seeder said.

Village Looking to Boost Newsletter Subscribers

Seeder also said during his report on the Administration Committee that he was looking to boost subscribers of the village's newsletter to 1000. 

"We strongly recommend people in the community sign up for it," Seeder said.

Public Works Identifies Potholes, Working on Filling Them

Trustee LeVelle Topps said during his report on the Public Works Committee that the village has completed its survey of roads in its hunt for potholes. The department is now working on filling them in.
