La Grange Park Public Works Director Moving to New Glen Ellyn Position

La Grange Park Public Works Director Julius Hansen is moving on from the village for new opportunities in Glen Ellyn.

Julius Hansen, longtime , recently announced he would be moving on from the village in search of new challenges. On Nov. 29, Hansen will become the new public works director at the .

At a Tuesday night board meeting, trustees on the La Grange Park Village Board wished Hansen a fond farewell and good luck in his new position.

"[Hansen] has been a valued employee for nine years here," Village Manager Julia Cedillo said following the board's workshop meeting. "He's committed, dependable and we wish him the best of luck in his new position in Glen Ellyn."

Hansen became public works director in La Grange Park in 2002. Previously, he had served in a management position in Elmhurst’s public works department.

"I moved on from Elmhurst because I was looking for more challenges, and I found those in La Grange Park," Hansen said. "It was such a great fit for me."

Hansen said although he's looking forward to the new challenges and opportunities that come with working for a bigger village, he said it’s not easy to say goodbye to La Grange Park.

"You know, I've made a lot of really great relationships with residents here who have become friends," Hansen said. "Sometimes a person will call to ask when the last leaf pick-up will be, and then we'll just end up talking."

In an , Hansen said he will bring over 20 years of experience to the position, and is looking forward to working with village officials there.

"I think that I’ve got a lot of experience and leadership, and I think I have some good problem solving skills. I don’t really give up easily, I always try to find a solution," he said.
