La Grange Considering Pricing for Electrical Aggregation

The longer a contract is signed for, the more expensive electricity will be; the cheapest rate for a one-year contract is just over 5¢/kWh.

The Village of La Grange is closing in on a new, cheaper electricity rate for residents as made possible by November's vote to allow for aggregated price-bargaining, The Doings La Grange reports.

According to the paper, a consultant advised Village trustees at Monday night's Board meeting that the cheapest rate possible for residents would be just over 5¢ per kilowatt hour, if the Board approves a one-year contract; due to volatile pricing, longer contracts would be more expensive.

The program is estimated to save the average La Grange home nearly $400 per year; it goes into effect as early as April.
